St. Michael the Archangel Security Cameras
By David Hollingsworth, Managing Member at Avid Communications
Security and safety is a high priority at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Parish in Leawood. Providing complete surveillance is not an easy task. Mostly because it’s a very, very busy place almost every day. Preschool through 8th grade students attend the school daily, the gym is busy with basketball, volleyball and a variety of activity during school, after school and on the weekend. The church is busy with daily Catholic Mass, Perpetual Adoration and a variety of other activities throughout the week.
St. Michael the Archangel wanted to upgrade their security cameras.
Avid worked with Debbie Kinsella, Technology/Data Coordinator and Chris Arth, Parish Administrator to design and implement the security surveillance project. The scope included upgrading all their cameras to high-definition technology, capable of being accessed from computers and smartphones. Cameras have been installed throughout the school, the church, and outside to monitor all activity. Recordings are stored off-site in a highly secure, redundant storage server.
One important requirement was the ability to provide real-time access to the Leawood police department. In the event there’s an incident, the police department now has real-time high definition, full-motion video available.
Video surveillance is critical in preventing and identifying security issues. Video surveillance is an important component to securing a very large area–deterring crime and monitoring visitor activity inside and outside 24 hours a day.
