Thunderstorms? Who’s watching over your network?
When the heavy storms rolled through last night about 10 pm, Avid was watching.
If you’re on Avid’s network, we monitor your connection at all times. When a heavy thunderstorm hits, we usually see its course across town as power outages affect our clients. Outages are overwhelmingly power related and usually we see most–but not all– connections come back up shortly after.
In the meantime, we run tests to determine whether the outage is power or something else. When it’s not power, we are able to arrange for circuit repair at the earliest possible moment.
Why does that matter? Most businesses circuits aren’t monitored and service providers don’t take proactive measures in the middle of the night. When someone arrives at work in the morning and the service is down, the opportunity to grab the earliest repair spots is gone. An agonizing wait could be the result.
So next time you hear the crack of lightening, know that Avid is awake and ready.d
