Jewish Family Services Opens Community Hub in East Brookside
There are some projects that we’re particularly proud to be a part of. That was the case with the new Missouri location of Jewish Family Services. They recently renovated a mid-century modern building at 425 E 63rd street, or in East Brookside–as it’s now being called.
Being a nonprofit agency, JFS was on a limited budget, but Executive Director Don Goldman demonstrated he is the master of getting a first-class result, even with limited budget. The offices are beautiful, open and full of natural light. In just a few short weeks of operation, it’s become a community hub, with a fabulous conference facility that has state-of-the-art technology.
Being on a major bus route, this location greatly improves access for JFS’s clients.
One of its major functions, a food pantry, has a separate entry and a pleasant waiting area. Clients are able to shop in the pantry one at a time, and the food storage facilities are top notch, thanks in part to a major equipment contribution from Starbuck’s.
Avid was pleased to provide a wired and wireless communications network throughout the building and new VoIP phones throughout as well. When there was a last-minute hitch at getting high-speed Internet access, we were able to “call an audible” and deploy a wireless and landline combination to meet their needs.
So we salute Don, his staff and the broad community of supporters of Jewish Family Services for this tremendous addition to the Kansas City community.
