Customer Spotlight: United Way of Greater Kansas City

This customer spotlight is about the United Way of Greater Kansas City. We’ve enjoyed working with them since 2018. (We love supporting not-for-profits!) When we first started working together, we managed their PRI circuit (the bridge between their on-premise phone system and the Public switched telephone network.) We also managed their pool of phone numbers for them.

Traditionally, our clients follow a technology upgrade path from premise based phone systems to our hosted business phone system (VoIP). Lately, we are helping companies integrate their communication systems even more with Microsoft Teams. Microsoft Teams is used by many companies for calls, collaboration and chat. So integrating their business phone system with Microsoft Teams makes a lot of sense.

United Way of Greater Kansas City leapfrogged from a premise based phone system directly to Microsoft Teams with our help.

We start these migrations by accessing their Microsoft Teams account and setting things up so that the phone line cutover can go smoothly. (This requires a lot of configuration… basically rebuilding their entire phone infrastructure.) Then the cutover happens. And once everything is working, we provide training. It’s a testament to the usability of Microsoft Teams that our virtual training session only required half an hour.

Some of the employees already had experience using Microsoft Teams and others did not. (This is common.) During training, we made sure to cover some of the more basic actions in the system since there was a wide range of experience levels.

Our primary contact was Chrissy Rapp. She was great to work with! She dug right in and helped with the migration and project scheduling. She didn’t have previous experience with Microsoft Teams, but picked it up right away. She was thrilled with how smoothly this migration and training went. Her team is up and running and loves the new functionality.

This was another great Microsoft Teams project for one of our clients who is making an impact in our community. We love those kinds of stories!
