Avid’s 2022 Year End Party at Lidia’s

Every June, I start thinking about booking our year end party at Lidia’s. Why? Because available dates in December go quickly and we want to make sure we get the date that we want before they fill up! We’ve been hosting this party at Lidia’s for years now and they always do such a great job.
Festivities began at 6pm with a cocktail hour.
As you can see, I was getting ready to serve Dave Scott some wine!
When people arrive, they drop off their White Elephant gifts at a specified table and start to mingle and maybe grab a beverage. It’s so nice to see everyone dressed up and to be getting together outside of our typical work environment.
During the cocktail hour, the wait staff passed around Hors d’oeuvre including meatballs, bruschetta, and arancini balls. (If you don’t know what those are, you can learn more here… They are delicious!)
Dinner is served!
At 7pm we sit down for dinner. And this is one of the many reasons we love hosting our parties at Lidia’s. The food is fantastic. People were able to choose from three preset dinner options, the Pasta Tasting Trio is always a favorite.
White Elephant Exchange
After dinner, we do a White Elephant gift exchange together. Everyone that wants to participate brings a gift valued at around $20. And we went with a two-steal maximum. Would you believe there is an entire website dedicated to this activity?
Some of the White Elephant gifts included a gigantic Twix bar, huge candy canes filled with Fireball liquor mini bottles, and a white elephant tea pot (no, really, it was a tea pot in the shape of a white elephant) that Dave Scott brought. It was definitely popular and ended up being stolen the maximum number of times.
I ended up with a trophy that said “Most Extra” that Audrey brought. The strange and random thing is that Audrey chose the gift I brought! It was a cheese board that she ended up getting to keep as well.
It’s a Wrap!
Of course we had to end the evening with coffee more drinks and dessert. We wanted to make sure that nobody had to worry about parking or safety, so we provided everyone with Lyft rides to and from Lidia’s. What a great way to start the holiday season and wrap another great year together!
