The management and ownership of Avid has spent all or nearly all of their careers in telecommunications,and most of those years working with each other. Here are a few of the accomplishments that are pertinent to your decision to use Avid Communications:

--Founded Birch Telecom, which grew to serve 150,000 customers in 40 cities

--Built Kansas City FiberNet, which had one of the most extensive fiber-optic networks in the country. FiberNet was the first company certified to provide competitive local phone service in both Kansas and Missouri.

--At Birch, introduced the first T1 based Internet connection for business priced below $500.

--Founded Valu-Line of Kansas, one of the region's most successful competitive long distance and phone equipment companies.

--At Birch, introduced the region's first service offering that integrated voice and data services over a T1 line.

--At FiberNet, built a metro-wide fiber network that carried nearly all of Sprint's internal and key network traffic, including connections to its national network operations center.

--At Birch, was able to reduce the standard industry installation interval for high capacity services from 90 days to 30 days. At Avid, have now reduced that to 10 days.

--Was awarded Silicon Prairie's Technologist of the Year award in 1999.

--Was awarded the regional Entreprenueur of the Year award, also in 1999.

--At Birch, brought a badly needed sense of humor to the industry with a highly visible and talked-about advertising campaign.
